Check your travel insurance for cancellation and delay cover
Anyone planning on heading to the UK over the coming days could find their plans are disrupted, as the country feels the effects of the European cold snap.
Transport has been cancelled or delayed as the result of snow and ice, but holidaymakers should find their plans are protected by their travel insurance policy.
Severe weather warnings have been issued by the UK's Met Office, which predicts there will continue to be snowfall across England and Wales.
Once the snow does finally subside, there is a risk of ice as the remains freeze over at the start of the new working week (February 6).
Other difficult weather conditions to contend with include fog patches, which are expected to make travelling all the more problematic.
Chief forecaster Andy Page commented: "There is also a risk of showers affecting parts of northwest England this evening, which will then extend southeast into the Midlands and eventually parts of southeast England, including the London area, later in the night."
He emphasised that although the showers will fall as rain, they will then freeze on to sub-zero surfaces, making conditions hazardous.
The UK is far from the only part of Europe to be affected by bad weather, as countries such as Poland, Ukraine and France are also stuck in the cold snap.
Rome, meanwhile, has experienced its heaviest snowfall in 25 years, with many locals left without power after trees fell on power lines.
Heathrow Airport in London was only able to run around half of its scheduled flights<add on Saturday (February 4), while several lines on the Underground were either disrupted or suspended.
Services are expected to return to normal later today.
Around 2,000 tonnes of grid were spread on the roads of the English capital to ensure some services could continue as normal.
